Be More.

An individual’s view of the world is typically formed based on what they have seen or experienced.  This is especially true for youth, and there is a direct correlation between positive social, cultural, and educational experiences and how one sees the world.

Northern Exposure at a Glance

Northern Exposure seeks to unlock our youth’s upward potential through exposure to new people, places, and things.  Our goal is to translate this broader view to an increased number of opportunities and in turn a brighter future.  Northern Exposure is founded on the premise that our youth can achieve things never imagined by seeing and doing things they’ve never done.

The organization is headquartered in the Dallas/Ft.Worth metroplex and is focused on local male youth between the ages of 10 and 17.  Participants are chosen for each experience based on the students submissions of essays and other writings as well as through recommendations of local partners and educators.

The team works to create experiences that participants will remember forever and that will help shape the lens through which they see the rest of the world... seeing, hearing, and doing things that they would otherwise be oblivious to.  Some experiences are all about learning and education and some are all about having fun; most of the time they’re a mixture of both!

Northern Exposure is a non-profit organization.  These experiences are made possible through charitable contributions along with the help and partnership of local schools, churches, businesses, and other charitable organizations.

Activities and Focus Areas

Personal Finance

Open conversations and real-world applications involving money will help ensure that our youth have the ability to maintain sound finances as they grow older.  Financial literacy and understanding the value of money are key building blocks to generational wealth.

History & Culture

Studying history enables us to develop better understanding of the world in which we live. Building knowledge and understanding of historical events and trends, especially over the past century, enables us to develop a much greater appreciation for current events today.

Sports & Outdoors

Outdoor recreation is a broad category with an equally broad list of benefits to our youth.  First, there's the obvious physical benefits and the connection with nature.  But being outdoors also provides a number of social and mental perks that we may not think about as often...including stress relief, self esteem, teamwork, etc.

Volunteers

Volunteerism

One of the best ways to give back is to teach our next generations the joy of giving back!  Volunteering provides opportunities to connect with others as well as develop and practice social skills.  But most importantly, it shows our youth how good it feels to help others and enact change within our communities.

STEM

STEM is important because it pervades every part of our lives and science is everywhere in the world around us.  By exposing students to STEM and giving them opportunities to explore STEM-related concepts, we hope to lay the educational foundation for our next generation of critical thinkers and innovators.

Arts & Sciences

Museums provide an intriguing way to engage and educate the community. Museum exhibits inspire interest in an area of study, an item, a time period, or an idea.  In many cases, we even see schools leverage our museums to enhance their curriculum.
